NAMM 2012

I got the chance to visit the NAMM show this year thanks to a good friend. We went on Friday and spent the day walking up and down the Anaheim Convention Center until our feet were sore and our stomach’s were empty.

We saw a lot of stuff that made for a pretty overwhelming day. For the most part, a lot of the stuff was straight forward. As a bass player I was hoping for a bit more, but there were some cool things, keep reading. It seemed like the area that garnered the most advancement was in the are of iOS and the iPad.

There are new iPad products from many companies like Mackie, Akai, Korg, Tascam, Moog, The Gig Easy, and Agile Partners the list could go on for miles with all the companies doing iPad integrations and apps.

One of the highlights for me was checking out some gear by Source Audio. They make effects for guitar and bass. An interesting effect is their Hot Hand line of products. The combining of the Hot Hand with the Soundblox® Pro Multiwave Bass Distortion and Soundblox® Pro Bass Envelope Filter makes for some really interesting sounds.

Rather than explaining, here’s some videos to check out the possibilities.

I could keep going on and on about different items and cool stuff, but you clearly have the Internet, so look up your company of choice and check out what they were pushing.
